Canada #977. Collectors weren’t sure what to make of the 1983 Commonwealth Day issue. This was Canada’s first large sized, high denomination commemorative issue since the 1897 Jubilees. Over 5000 mostly different (some are both mint and used), with lots of sets and souvenir sheets. As you would expect, the earlier tends to be more used, and the more recent is heavily skewed towards mint. Includes better singles such as mint #62-67. Up to 1969 and after 1992 are housed in black "Vario" stockpages, in three ring binders (the pages have substantial value). The 1969-1991 (and the back of the book) are in black and clear mounts on Scott Specialized pages in a pair of green two-post binders (quite worn but doing the job). The biggest section is a large 3-ring binder with an extensive collection of post-war Soviet Union issues on over 70 various stockpages (e.g. Vario, manilla), with souvenir sheets). A folder of First Day Covers is signed by cosmonaut "Leonov". There are two green 2-post Scott Specialty albums covering 1969-1991 with regular pages with (poorly) added black mounts - which likely can be replaced by a patient collector (binders worth about $100.00). The next album is a Ka-Be brand album with hingeless pages covering 1992-2002 in a magnificent, generic springback binder (the retail on the album and pages is likely over $500.00 if you can find them!).
