Ceylon - Masterful Post Office cancel and postal history collection from late QV to about 1950. This collection is divided by region/province/service and then by Post Office and different cancel types. Where there is duplication, it is often because of different time markings. Includes many numeral killers, CDS, double ring and the occasional machine cancel. The cancels are generally very readable and are neatly annotated by hand. The mounted portion includes 534 stamps and 42 covers and cards. Additionally, there are some black stockpages with another 220 stamps, some of which may be duplication, and some are waiting to be added to the collection. We can’t overstate the depth of this holding, including Colombo sub Post Offices, railway, ship, even a cover used in the Maldives. Supported with relevant documentation, including lists, maps and some pictures. Don’t overlook the value of the stamps themselves! A lifetime labour of love, virtually impossible to duplicate. Transvaal #119/174. Large and interesting accumulation of Transvaal "Second Republic" issues, starting with the first issue of 1883, which resembles those of the "First Republic" issues, and then focusing on the "Coat of Arms" and "Wagon" issues of 1885-1897. Mostly used, with some mint scattered throughout. A good representation of overprints, including a couple inverted. Where there is duplication, it allows for a good opportunity to assess shade differences. Lots of interest here for the postmark collector, with several "Numeral" postmarks noted. Though sound cancelations generally confirm a genuine example, stamps from these issues are often reprints, so as always with stamps of Transvaal, use a discerning eye when looking over the scans. USA - An extensive, but somewhat disorganized American mounted collection. The Columbus issue is mostly complete up to the 50c, Trans-Mississippi to 10c and the Pan-American set is complete used. There are some better mint examples that slip in here and there, such as #302/307 and #551-570. The Washington/Franklin issues are well represented, including some imperforates. The collection ends in 1948, but the Airmails have decent coverage into the 1980’s. We also noted Parcel Post, Special Delivery, Postage Dues, Revenues. This collection concludes witht 30+ intriguing covers which have lots of character with interesting cancels, destinations and routes. Substantial catalogue value from these stamps. Estimate =

Worldwide - Scandinavia. Classic-heavy Nordic mounted collection of around 3000 mint and used stamps, with interesting additions such as cancels, varieties and even a few covers here and there. Includes Greenland (125 stamps), Finland (750 stamps) starting in 1875, with perforation and shades to keep you busy, plus some "back of the book" and Iceland (250 stamps) including various printings and overprints. There is a good offering of Norway (750 stamps) and Sweden (1130 stamps), with the Swedish material including a shade study of Oscar II issues (owner’s catalogue $600.00) and a dizzying group of town cancels. Overall, the appearance of the stamps is excellent, but expect some faults here and there. The collection thins out in the 1970’s and there isn’t much after 1984. Everywhere you look there is interesting material. (See Denmark for the Danish portion of this collection). Estimate =
