Attractive single use on-cover example of the 1860 issue 12½c black Victoria, sent from Halifax (backstamped) on October 29th 1863 to "Miss A. Burdett Coutts, Torquay, Devon, England". A great single use, properly used in-period paying the Allan Steamship line rate to the UK. Historically important, addressed to Angela Georgina Burdett-Coutts, referred to as "the richest heiress in England" at the time. A bit of time online will unlock her fascinating history, including being president of the "British Beekeeping Assc" from 1878-1906. The second (and last) item we have from this correspondence. 2025-2026 Unitrade =
