Visually powerful group of Polish POW Camp Woldenberf 1942-1944 camp issued provisional local stamps. The camp was located 1km from Woldenberg housed (at its peak) 5944 officers and 796 orderlies in 25 brick huts, over the 62 acre camp. These philatelically inspired issues have had their use speculated on over the years, as to whether they had actual use (beyond philatelic creation). This lot includes over 100 items including stamps, proof material, postmarks and covers. Listed in Michel catalogue. All neatly hinged in an old-time stamp book (which had travelled for many years with the original Jewish collector who acquired these). The largest assembly of this material we have offered!
