Interesting pair of appointments, both issued to Philip Kessler for these Lorain County Post Offices. The 1880 Appointment is signed by Postmaster General Horace Maynard (appointed PMG by President Rutherford B Hayes), and the 1883 Appointment is signed by Postmaster General Frank Hatton (appointed PMG by President Chester A Arthur). These two folded sheets (easily unfolded) have been hiding away here on Vancouver Island for decades, and it is time to find them a new home. Estimate
