Collectors weren’t sure what to make of the 1983 Commonwealth Day issue. This was Canada’s first large sized, high denomination commemorative issue since the 1897 Jubilees. There was no postal imperative and the stamp was on sale for a limited time, only. Few collectors bought these in any quantity, and the catalogue values have crept up steadily over the years.
