Weeda Stamps holds a regular bi-weekly bidboard auction. It was originally held on Saturdays in the shop with thirty lots every week. Over the years it has constantly grown and transformed. The online component began in 1993 with an email listing service. In 1994 we joined the World Wide Web with our own Weeda website and an Internet version of our sale. We are always trying to make positive changes in order to improve our quality of service.
Every Weeda Bidboard is posted for two weeks (with the odd exception for holidays) and begins its final countdown on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time. If you want to see how that compares to your local time zone, go to Time Zone Converter.
On December 3rd, 2006, the Weeda Stamps Bidboard introduced an automatic bidding system. With this system you will be able to know immediately if you are high bidder or not on any lot. Important: even if you are already a Weeda customer with your own bidder number, you must register and create your own personal password in order to bid. Your Weeda number remains the same but the password is an important security feature we need to add. Click on the pencil on our Home Page to go to the Registration form. We've tried to make the registration form as straightforward as possible. If you have any difficulties or questions regarding registration, please don't hesitate to contact us.
On our bidboard page you will notice that we have included a declining clock that displays the time remaining in the sale, subject to the addition of overtime. There is an automatic 3 minute bidding extension if a bid is submitted on any lot within the last 3 minutes on the bidding clock. These time extensions will continue to occur until there is a 3 minute period during which no bidding takes place. We expect overtime with this type of bidding will last between one to two hours in extra bidding time. This extra time will allow you to make sure you get the lots you really want.
Remember, there's a $10.00 minimum bid. That's it ... no reserves. When you place a bid on our bidboard, your bid will always appear as one bid increment over the second highest bidder. If you are overbid, the other bidder's number will appear as one increment above your maximum bid. If there are no bids on the lot you have selected, your bid will show as the $10.00 minimum bid. In the case of ties, priority is given to the earliest bid placed. For example, if you bid $50.00 and see on the website a $50.00 bid with someone else's number below it, they were the earlier bidder with the same bid as yours. The increments are as follows:
$1 up to $20
If you place a bid that is not a proper increment, it will be rounded down to the proper amount. If you click on "Round Up" on the bidding page, your bid will be rounded up to the next increment.
Currency and Payment
All bids are in Canadian dollars. There is no buyer's premium and no extra cost for using a credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Debit card (in person only), cheques, money orders and cash. You can email, phone or fax your credit card number to me. I will keep it on file for your future purchases. Postage and applicable taxes will be added to your bill. If you wish to consign material as well as purchase, we can debit your purchases against your sales credit. Ask us for details.

The vast majority of the material on our bidboard is on consignment from other collectors. Our commission is 25% of the selling price. We have no extra charges for insurance, lotting, photography, etc.
If you look at our past bidboards, you will get a good idea of what type of material we sell.
Please email us before you send any material. We may be able to give you shipping advice. You know your material better than anyone. Feel free to lot and describe it before you send it to us. Some people even send their predescribed listings as emails that we can cut and paste directly into the auction. We use the latest Scott Standard catalogue to describe most material but do use specialized catalogues such as Unitrade, Stanley Gibbons, Michel and others when warranted.
With our large and diverse client base, material tends to sell for what it's worth. Therefore reserve prices are neither needed nor accepted. Once your material is on our premises we begin selling it approximately two weeks after receipt. The number of lots you will be allowed per week depends on how many different consignments we have as well as other factors, such as how well it fits into the feel of the sale. For example, if you give us ten of the same set, those will not go up over a ten week period. We will space them out over a longer period of time so they get a better price.
Our terms of payment are flexible. We pay out in Canadian funds (or the equivalent in US $). Feel free to discuss your payment preferences with us at any time.
