Belgium - Early Belgium used bliss of about 200 stamps on four black stockpages, starting with a near-full page of King Leopold I issues in all three denominations. These have been selected for their socked-on-the-nose numeral cancels, most of which are very easily readable, and we expect the stamps will have enormous catalogue value, but with some condition issues. The balance of the collection stretches into the early 1900’s with each stamp individually selected for its readable cancel. We can’t overemphasize how stunning this lot is. Estimate =

Bermuda #124a/127a. A pair of lower right corner blocks of the King George VI "Keyplate" issue with the 2/6 and 12/6 values, each with a cylinder number. Both have a fresh appearance and a bit of discoloration at the bottom. This is natural, due to the acidic gum used during the Second World War, the gum is quite browned, some collectors mistakenly believe that this is due to poor storage, but it is the result of wartime necessity. Both are never hinged. Showpieces! 2024 Scott US$536.00 =

The forerunners to South Africa include: Cape of Good Hope ($133.00), Natal ($38.00), Orange Free State ($48.00) and Transvaal ($138.00 - with values to £1). The South Africa includes a number of early pairs and a couple of JIPEX ’36 booklet panes ($381.00) and the South West Africa section is relatively small but packed with value with lots of better overprinted pairs ($360.00). British Commonwealth - Matching duo / set of (Volume 1 and Volume 2) of the green Stanley Gibbons published "New Imperial Postage Stamp Album" with pages for GB and the Commonwealth from QV to George V (we did note some Edward VIII spots as well when applicable). While the albums themselves could be the star of the show, there is also a total of 1964 mint and (mostly) used stamps from across the Commonwealth, with particular strength in India and States. The previous owner states that a rough / superficial count approximated the catalogue value in Gibbons to be about £1800.00 ($3340.00 CDN). The albums themselves have some wear, but lots of life left in them. Estimate =

British Commonwealth - Minkus "British Europe" album with pages to 1972, with an impressed binder and a (battered) dust jacket. The Great Britain is easily the strongest section, with a 2+ margin "Penny Black", an interestingly cut #5 (probably from the top of the sheet showing some of the lower stamp). There is reasonable coverage throughout the Queen Victoria period, but the collector had some doubts about proper identification, and includes some official overprints. There is reasonable coverage into the QEII decimal period. Several of the higher denomination stamps have perfins. There is a touch of Gibraltar, Malta and Ireland. Estimate =

Canada #9. Attractive looking VG appearing used example of the 7½p green Queen Victoria 1857 imperf pence issue, but with tight margins (to just in) and with thin spot visible from the back. A good stamp to fill the spot in an album, until a better example can be acquired. 2025 Scott US$3000.00 =

Canada #14/1540. The "Dominion of Canada Stamp Album" with pages from 1851-1994, with stamp starting in the "First Cents" period. A mix of mint and used, with primarily used in the beginning, and then a mix of mint and used and the years progress. Includes a used 50c Bluenose, mint $1.00 Parliament, used set of Admirals (plus extras), mid-value Tercentenary, 20c QV Numeral, 10c QV Leaf, 4x QV Jubilee's (including a 1c with Duck Lake SASK Territorial postmark), basic run of Small Queens / Widow Weeds, basic set of Large Queens (this has some notable faults visible) and three First Cents issues. A good collection to build upon, or take what you need and sell the remainder. Easily worth the low estimated value. Estimate =

Canada #14/20. Attractive used offering of 7x 1859 "First Cents" issues, plus the 1864 QV issue 2c rose, including shades neatly arranged on a stockcard. Some pretty stamps here. The 17c Cartier has a straight edge at bottom and is not counted. That being said, besides the odd small perf fault, these are generally in better condition than usually seen. Catalogued as the cheapest listing of each stamp. 2025 Scott US$967.50 =

Canada #21/30. Used 10-pack of Large Queens, from the 1/2c to 15c values. A nice "sampler" unchecked for better shades or paper varieties, from an old-time collection. A couple small faults noted (1c yellow with small tear), but overall cleaner than usually seen. Counted as the cheapest variety in the catalogue. 2025 Scott US$1020.00 =

Canada #37/1154. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II focused collection mounted on Darnell printed pages in a 3-ring binder with lots of collector-added clear mounts. There is a bit of earlier material, mostly used and sparse. By the 1940’s the collection picks up with both regular and "back of the book". We noted never hinged sets of the 1942 War issue and a single of the Ferry dollar from the Peace issue overprinted "G". From 1950 to 1987, the collection is primarily mint and quite complete, including coil singles, souvenir sheets, miniature panes, some booklets and more from the "back of the book". We estimate the face value of the modern material at around $150.00 and there are some nice cataloguing items along the way. Estimate =

Canada #54-58. Fine unused (no gum) selection of five different mid-value 1897 Jubilee issues. As these all came from the same source, our guess is that the mint stamps were affixed to the album page and soaked to save them, sacrificing the gum. 2024 Scott as mint would be US$895.00 ($1208.25 CDN). *On our great bidboard page you will notice that we have included a declining clock that displays the time remaining in the sale, subject to the addition of overtime. There is an automatic 3 minute bidding extension if a bid is submitted on any lot within the last 3 minutes on the bidding clock. These time extensions will continue to occur until there is a 3 minute period during which no bidding takes place. We expect overtime with this type of bidding will last two to three hours in extra bidding time. This extra time will allow you to make sure you get the lots you really want to get right away.
