France - Collection on Yvert & Tellier album with pages to 1967. Over 1400 different stamps including "back of the book". A mix of both mint and used (the earlier tend to be used, then progressing to more mint material). The album has been well loved, but it has lovingly protected the stamps, which are generally in excellent condition, fresh and well centered. The owner’s catalogue value by 2018 Scott was $5832.00, a spot check against the 2023 Scott indicates that prices are down 10%, and we are rounding it down a little bit more "just in case". Total estimated 2023 Scott US$5,000.00 = $6,750.00

While not complete for the period, this group represents a very good run. Overall, the condition is excellent. Owner’s 2021 Y&T catalogues is euro 1,628.00 ($2408.00 CDN). Estimate = $160.00

France - Mint Dealer Stock offering. A stock of mint (about 95% Never Hinged) from primarily the 1942-1985 period including many semi-postals and other "back of the book", with duplication. Housed in a blue European stockbook, there are single values to $2-3 catalogue, with sets from $3-$5 throughout (even a couple sets in the $30 range!). A total of 2050+ stamps largely unchecked, with potential varieties to be found by the knowledgeable eye. Owner estimates that the catalogue value would exceed US$1200.00. Estimate = $220.00

Germany #402/529, B99/B291, C46/C60 plus other BOB, General Government & Bohemia and Moravia. Third Reich collection with several hundred mint and used stamps, plus a few souvenir sheets all in a bit battered regular Lighthouse album with (damaged) slipcover. Although some key items appear to have been removed many years ago, there is good value here, noting B67 and 2 copies of B104, airmails C55-56, plus a host of individual stamps in the $10.00-$20.00 catalogue value range. The General Government is quite complete, including back of the book issues, and there is a bit of Bohemia and Moravian material. Some black mounts have been added, and there is some duplication where the collector found a shade, se-tenant pair or nice cancel to augment the collection. Speaking of extras, there are about 20 pieces of postal history and postal stationery in the form of Feldpost, civilian and philatelic mail. Although the album would have originally had a significant original cost, because of its condition, we are not considering it in our estimated value. Estimate = $180.00

Germany - A banker’s box with the balance of a consignment. Starts with a hingeless Lindner album with 1992-1999 mint Never Hinged stamps, including semi-postals (the printed pages are 1992-1994) and the balance used generic pages - about 400 stamps cataloging about US$500.00 plus an album that would set you back $200.00. There is a springback album with a clean used collection from the early issues up to 1990, including some East Germany. There is a small study of a couple hundred stamps with Berlin cancels on Vario-brand stockpages. A near-new Uni-Safe 32 page stockbook contains three pages of mint issues circa 1981 (perfect to help you with your sorting). Next are a couple of mint inflation-era panes and a big bundle of 1984-1990 new issue release "posters" (shows stamp, cancel, lengthy description - a few with press photo), a page of "potential" including some Germany states and post-WWII issues and even saw a few forgeries. Estimate = $200.00

Germany - Collection in Six Volumes and One Sheet File. Mint and used collection many hundreds of Germany and German Democratic Republic issues, housed in five "SAFE" brand hingeless albums, one binder of Scott pages and one additional large format sheet file. The albums are organized for Germany as 1872-1933, 1933-1945, 1949-1969 and 1964-1986. The German Democratic Republic volumes are 1949-1978 and 1969-1974. The sheet file contains a mix of large multiples from Germany, Berlin and East Germany. While no particularly valuable individual items were seen in the collections, there are some areas (3rd Reich etc) that have enough completion to be useful to the collector wanting to begin building a German area collection, expanding upon the material already present. The pages and binders alone retail for hundreds of dollars. Estimate = $600.00

Great Britain - Collection of 215 special illustrated postmark covers 1966-1969. An enticing large offering (rather than a few here and there) of the often very interesting, illustrated postmarks used in the late 1960's to mark events. 374
Great Britain - First Day Cover Collection 1965-2015. Bankers box holding over 400 covers from the mid-1960's up to 2015. A very comprehensive and seemingly all-different group, almost all addressed to a collector in Hertfordshire UK. Strength in the post-2000 issues which is likely an almost complete run as ordered from the British Post Office, including MANY sets and souvenir sheets. Enormous original cost, especially when you start adding up the many "1st Class" or "pound-plus" values. The used stamps alone would carry a significant catalogue value and many collectors have opted to "soak" these as they are often the only way to obtain the used stamps. Estimate = $400.00

Great Britain - Take a look at every scan in this lot before making up your mind about how much to bid, as organization comes and goes, but high cataloguing stamps are everywhere. It does start with Queen Victoria, sparse up to the Jubilee issue. Most of the Edward VII set has multiple copies, a few pages have George VI and early Elizabethan, but then reverts to George V definitives, often by the score! Then there are some 1924 British Empire Exhibition stamps and a herd of about 50 Seahorses! The lot finishes with more GeogeVI and Edward VIII (with some mint multiples). The only downside to this lot is the 32-page stockbook, which needs some TLC (tender loving care, after being shown a total lack of concern). Thousands upon thousands of dollars of catalogue value and appears unchecked for cancels or varieties. Estimate = $240.00

Iceland #10/234 plus Back of the Book. A lovely collection of early Icelandic issues on old "KA-BE" Ideal pages, with 193 stamps up to 1940. The early "Royal Emblem" issues are attractive with discernable cancels. There is good representation from the few early 20th century "Kings", "Two Kings" and "Jon Sigurdsson" sets. Noted some good overprints and revaluations (including mint #137-138). The "back of the book" is strong, with semi-postals, nice mint airmails including C4-C8 and a good offering of officials including 9 denominations of the 1930 overprinted "Parliament" set. Many are in black mounts added by the previous owner. Great appearance and condition. The catalogue value will add up quickly here. Estimate = $300.00

Canada #245, 245i. Stunning premium used offering of 61 examples of the 1938 issued $1.00 Chateau Ramezay, George V Pictorial high-value in singles, pairs and strips. All neatly laid out on a single Hagner stockpage, giving a stunning 1-page stock of these stamps. We noted that both the "regular" and "aniline ink" seem to be split about evenly throughout the lot. Almost all have CDS postmarks, primarily from Vancouver BC or Whitehorse YT, with the centering also being VF on most. No faults noticed at all, showing this must have been the "cream of the crop" from what the collector assembled. Unitrade is $10.00 per stamp as VF, $5.00 per stamp as fine. 2024 Scott US$7.00 per stamp. These examples are well-above average for used examples of this issue. Estimate =

Canada #245i. All Very Fine centered, vibrantly fresh and CDS used large miultiples of the scarce Unitrade listed aniline violet printing of the 1938 GeoVI issue $1.00 Chateau Ramezay high value. All with Nanaimo BC February 14th 1942 "in period" postmarks (the $1.00 Destroyer was only issued in July 1942). The two large blocks were originally the same multiple but separated at some point. A rejoined block ($29.00 face!) of the aniline printing will certainly make a spectacular exhibit page. 2024 Unitrade =

*On our great bidboard page you will notice that we have included a declining clock that displays the time remaining in the sale, subject to the addition of overtime. There is an automatic 3 minute bidding extension if a bid is submitted on any lot within the last 3 minutes on the bidding clock. These time extensions will continue to occur until there is a 3 minute period during which no bidding takes place.
